TAKE ME OUT TO COLLEGE FEST 2016

Annual College Festival Brings Food, Fun and Favorites to Fenway Park

Spending the day at Fenway Park when the play-off destined Boston Red Sox are out of town may not sound like much fun.  But when CollegeFest has taken over the Green Monster, Fenway becomes the perfect playground for Boston’s information, fun and entertainment hungry college students.

CollegeFest, a one-day lifestyle event that welcomes college students from across Boston and New England back to school, celebrated its 31st year this weekend at Fenway Park. The event encouraged students to get out and explore their city and meet new people. The honorable ARMY ROTC proudly returned as the presenting sponsor for the fourth year in a row.  It was awesome to have the freedom to explore the many amenities available to college students lucky enough to study here in Boston while being surrounded by the fine young men and women who serve our country.

The event was completely free to college students. All they needed to get in is a valid college ID or transcript. CollegeFest featured over 70 brands and business for students to engage with. Vendors featured a variety of special offers, games, prizes, giveaways and more. There was also a unique photo op presented by the Army ROTC, where we got to capture our image on Fenway Park’s Center Field scoreboard standing with the Red Sox three World Series Trophies with beautiful Fenway Park in the background.

For those who love SWAG and gaming, SWAG’R was there to launch the Boston version of their GEO location gamification app that allowed students access to deals and free giveaways onsite at CollegeFest and well into the semester. For students looking to get involved and make a difference, The Boston Red Sox were on hand to promote Student 9’s, their student priced game tickets.  After all, there’s nothing better than discount tickets to Red Sox games home at Fenway Park.

The event organizers, The Campus Agency or “Campus” said they were thrilled to be hosting the event once again, “Every year we enjoy bringing CollegeFest to the Boston area college students, it’s a Boston tradition! I went to the first one 31 years ago as a Boston University student and absolutely loved it.  So obviously it’s so much fun and very rewarding to put this event together every year and see so many college students enjoying everything that CollegeFest has to offer,” said Paul Tedeschi, of Campus.

Surely there were plenty of activities, food, drink live music and more to entertain and engage us as we made our way through the Fenway Park concourse. But after spending the day at this incredible event – which I will definitely be attending again next year – I have to admit that my favorite part was my deliciously indulgent interaction with Vice. This super premium ice cream was serving bite size – well more than one bite that definitely left you wanting more – servings of this unapologetic frozen treat.

Vice ice cream features creative flavors like Choc of Shame, Afternoon Delight, Breakfast in Bed, and Higher Grounds.  These creative names perfectly represented their ingredients both thought provoking and dreamy.  I definitely will be searching out these heavenly pints at local grocery stores this semester and thank CollegeFest for making the introduction.

If you missed this year’s CollegeFest, fear not, it will be back again next September and they will be producing other smaller events through the year.  Be sure to follow them on social media to be the first to know what else they are up to this school year.
