Complaining about products is definitely not my favorite thing to do. But I am a true believer of spending money on products worth buying, and even though some of these products do not work for me, they could work for you! These are my own opinions and although I truly do regret buying these particular products, these brands make other products that I love to use on a daily basis!
L’oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminators ($12.99): This product is supposed to be multiple highlighting powders that can be used all over the face or on the high points of your cheekbones. I have mine in Golden and Rose. Golden is an orange-based gold with a frosted sheen with gold sparkle. I found it quite powdery when I applied it to the face. During the day, I found sparkles all over my face and felt like the powder made my skin patchy and dry. This powder lasted around five hours for me. Rose is a brightened, pink-tinged white with warmer gold shimmer and pink sparkle. It was very pigmented and very frosty on the skin with large specks of sparkle that I felt would emphasize pores and also made my skin look dry and patchy. It wore around the same time (five hours.) I was disappointed because the powder itself feels really smooth in the compact but can be powdery. Highlighting powders can be hard to find at the drugstore and I was very excited to see a more affordable highlighter but ended up not liking it as much as I thought it would! I guess, you get what you pay for.
Tarte Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel ($21): I can not leave my house without at least doing something little to my eyebrows. I am always trying to improve and make my eyebrows look on point. Even when I’m out doing errands, I like to quickly put some tinted brow gel on instead of sitting down and using my eyebrow pencil. I’ve found Tarte products to be very reliable, but this one was a no-go for me. There is barely any tint to the product whatsoever, and there are definitely better ones out there, even at the drugstore!
Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in In The Buff ($25): Once and awhile I like to use a white or cream eyeliner to brighten up my eyes and make my eyes look more awake. This product is very dry and I barely got any product in my lashline. I find that when I was using it, it was tugging on my skin which can cause premature wrinkles. For $25, you can find a creamier and pigmented eyeliner.
Benefit Puff Off! ($29): I have naturally dark puffy under eye circles and this product claims that it is an eye gel that assists with smoothing the appearance of puffy eyes. This product did not do much for me and, if anything, just added more time in the morning without making a difference. The product itself is smooth, but I find that it did not smooth the look of my appearance. The applicator is a little iron that helps awaken your eyes in the morning but it can be very sharp at some angle and I sometimes poked my eye with it, and it also didn’t seem very sanitary because there was be some dried up product on the sides of the applicator. Totally not worth the time or the investment.
